Several communities of the county are more than 5-10 miles away from a grocery. In order to improve these problems, the Baker administration is committed to improving the fresh food that is provided to those who live in the Beltway and southern Prince George’s County. The county is also conducting studies in order to determine which neighborhoods are in food deserts in order to find a solution to this problem. Prince George’s plans to introduce more full service grocery stores, encourage retailers to provide healthier options, establishing more farmers markets.
